- Inspired by my visit to the Body Worlds exhibition in London last year, I thought it would be a nice idea to memorialise one of the plastinated posed skeletons I saw there. It was a fascinating exhibition and I felt moved by the people who volunteered to have their bodies used for science, yet sorry that they're body ended up in such a dense environment, with no sense of being able to be put to 'rest'. He now sits under a tree with a rose around his arm to represent his kind heart. ♥
This was also the start of my experimenting with human forms within my trees. ☺️
“Once my soul leaves my physical body, it is just a physical configuration of atoms, no different than a canvas or painting, and no longer housing my soul. As a scientist, I understand the importance of discovery, investigation and understanding. As an artist, too, I also understand creativity, ingenuity and vision.” Quote from the Body Worlds website, on people’s motivations for donating their bodies to science. ✨
